Nokia N96 one of the most desired phones

In the last period there are more and more smart phones launched, but Nokia N96 remains one of the most desired ones.

Nokia N96 is the latest Nokia smartphone to carry the N Series name, and became available for purchase in early Septemeber 2008.

N96 is so popular for 2 reasons:

  • it’s a Nokia, which means a good reliability
  • it has a great features list.

Nokia N96 features

  • it is a sophiscated dual slide camera phone. It has a 5 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics and a Tessar lens. The camera has auto focus with a range from 10 cm to infinity and auto-exposure.
  • built-in GPS receiver. The Nokia N96 has a built-in GPS receiver, with support for assisted GPS (A-GPS), and free downloadable maps of over 150 countries.
  • large 2.8″ QVGA (240 x 320 pixels) LCD TFT display with up to 16 million colors
  • video capture in MPEG-4 up to VGA at 30 frames per second
  • integrated digital MP3 music player
  • Stereo FM radio with support for RDS, Visual Radio and use of FM radio in offline mode
  • Quad band with automatic switching between bands
  • WiFi
  • 3G HSDPA connectivity
  • Bluetooth
  • 16GB of internal flash memory, plus a microSD memory card slot
  • the battery allows up to 220 minutes of talktime, 220 hrs standby time, 5 hours video, 14 hours music or 4 hours TV playback

The N96 is quite large at 103 x 55 x 18mm, but this is mainly due to the fact it has to house the large 2.8 inch QVGA display.

A notable improvement is the capacity of the N96. The N96 has 16GB of internal memory as well as a microSDHC slot and with card currently available up to 8GB this means you can increase capacity to 24GB.

Nokia N96 is enriched with a good collection of downloadable music from Nokia Music Store and other online music sites. Users can sync their PCs and mobile libraries via high-speed USB connectivity.

Video playback is up to 5 hours and music playback is up to 14 hours on a single charge. The TV playback on a single charge is a bit less at 4 hours. Videos also support geo tags, the maximum resolution for a video is 640×480 but a couple of lower resolutions are also available; the videos are recorded at 30 fps. Image stabilization is supported; it’s also possible to turn off sound recording.

Nokia N96 seems to have everything you dreamed of: hi quality digital camera, GPS receiver, mp3 player, video player, radio, enough internal memory to have your favorite music and clips with you.

For me Nokia N96 is the king of mobile phones.

After waiting so eagerly for UK release, I have finally got my hands on one. I don’t think its all that brilliant and it has been a bit overrated. Its just a cross between the N81 and the N95. The one thing I really like is the screen adopts and changes according to how you hold the phone. It sense when the phone is held upright or sideways. I think the N97 will be a lot better… I hope.

  7. Impressive but i feel i am happy with my I-phone.
