2. Minimize the startup time of Windows 7
Click Start->Run, and again type “msconfig” into the box of the pop-up window and press Enter key. Under the Boot tab, you’ll see the default startup time is 30 seconds and you can change it to 5 or 10 seconds.

The setting will come into effect after restarting the computer.

3. Quicken the shutdown speed of Windows 7

Working method: Type “regedit” into the search box of the start menu and press Enter to open up the Registry Editor. Then find “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SYSTEM -> CurrentControlSet -> Control. After clicking the Control folder, in the right frame, find WaitToKillServiceTimeOut option and right click on it. Then hit Modify and change the 12000 by default to a smaller number. Here the number 12000 stands for the shutdown wait time-12 seconds. Also you have to shut down the computer to get the change come into effect.

4. Quicker window switching speed

The gorgeous effect of Windows 7 is truly beautiful, but the beautiful effect is at the cost of speed. If you want more rapid switching window speed, you can turn off the “Animate windows when minimizing and maximizing”. To do so, you can:

Type “SystemPropertiesPerformance” into the Search box in the Start menu and press Enter. In the new windows, find the Visual Effects tab and uncheck Animate windows when minimizing and maximizing.

5. Disable the Aero Theme

The Aero theme in Windows 7 also occupies a lot of system resources. So if you want to speed up your system, you shouldn’t use the Aero Theme. So you can right click on the desktop and select Personalize, then hit on Windows Color tab and uncheck “Enable Transparency”. Now, click on “Open classic appearance properties for more color options” and select one standard theme you like. Done.

After the five steps, your Windows 7 speed and performance will be improve a lot. Just have a try!
