I also removed the no-follow from my blog a month ago. I can say that the level of spam remained the same. So did the level of comments, but at least my loyal readers got some links.

How do Search engine track backlinks? From our nick? or URL posted on the comments?

from your nick

I have to say that this is probably one of the coolest gadgets out there (don’t know if you would classify it as that), but I think that this has helped out so many people to be able to get solid blogs going and to make a lot of money doing so. I think it will help bring the network of bloggers a little closer together. I have found a lot of help from it. What are your feelings on do-follow up to this point?

So basically, this helps us spread the link love with our readers? Does it affect the hosting blog in any way?

This is exactly what I expected to find out after reading the title adgets Club. Thanks for informative article

The best part is it rewards real participation, not just blind blogrolling. I hate the politics of blogrolling, because people inevitably get bent.

Besides, the metrics are changing…

The NoNoFollow movement is a great way to increase blog participation at the end of the day if you want to leave a comment the last thing you want is for it to be moderated by some backdoor piece of code. I for one have implemented the DoFollow plugin on my blogs and hope more people do so in the future.

Awesome plug-in. This will encourage my readers and myself to comment more.

I didn’t know that is possible.
Thanks for sharing.
I will enable this feature too

If you guys like this, check out the CommentLuv plugin. It attaches the title of the authors latest post to the end of a comment. When used with the DoFollow (or other similar) plugin, it’s the ultimate way of thanking your commenters.

I have the nofollow removed from all my blogs. I don’t think it makes any difference to spam. There hasn’t been a huge increase in comments either since I put up the ‘I follow’ logo, which was a little disappointing.

I also have the no follow taken off my site. I really like the semilogic do follow plugin. I’ve implemented it on several sites already.

The idea is to have a conversation. If both sides do not benefit by NOT using the Not Follow tag then blogs become lectures.

Is no follow automatically on your wordpress. How do you remove it? I am going to add the ifollow gadget nonetheless.

Scott Said,
March 5th, 2008 @8:41 pm

I also added to one of my blogs to see how it would affect things, such as more people commenting. It seems to have been helpful so far.

March 18th, 2008 @6:53 am

Looking forward to it and will definitely follow the instructions on no-follow removal.

Thanks for doing this my friend.

I’m still considering to use doFollow plugin since i will need more time to manage comments on my new blog. I got depressed managing comment spam in the list the last time I used WP.

@Melissa, find doFollow plugin for WP if use WP. by default, WP put noFollow on comment entries.

I’ve recently joined the do-follow revolution as well. I think it greatly adds to user commentary.

ciao seo Said,
July 10th, 2008 @10:06 am

if your blog has too many comments is very difficult to check them…
without check the “follow” tag is dangerous, linking to spammy site means distrust or badrank…

HIPS Said,
August 22nd, 2008 @10:31 pm

I like the concept, will be installing if not too complex. Suppose comments just need moderating.

September 4th, 2008 @4:28 pm

I keep wondering if google will somehow detect blogs that are using the dofollow tag and penalize or somehow ignore those links….

September 11th, 2008 @4:16 pm

this is probably one of the best moves you can make for your blog. for a do-follower like me, my 2-month blog gained PR4 lately. this is because more people are encouraged to leave comments when they see that you’re a do-follower, hence, there is a higher chance they will go back to your site and link with you. keep it up!
