A new gadget is now on the market iLuv USB TV tuner for Mac (Windows version was available for some time).
It looks like an extended Flash drive and connects via USB 2.0.
Once connected you can view and record TV.
It also supports EPG (Electronic Programming Guide) so you can program your Mac to record your favourite TV shows, it will start and stop recording at the stipulated time.
You can sit back and relax as you can change the channels using the Apple Remote. The only disadvantage is the 17cms long antenna.
The unit measures 23×94.2×9.8mm and weighs 22 grams. It is compatible with Mac OS X v10.4 and above. Â
iLuv USB TV Tuner for Mac gagdet will be available in Japan from Feb end for 14,800 Yen ($ 122).

iPhone has a powerful gadget competitor Samsung Ultra Smart F700
This new gadget wants to be the iPhone killer.
The Ultra Smart F700 is a triband GSM (900/1800/1900) slider phone with a full QWERTY keyboard. It has a 2.78 inch touchscreen display supporting 262k colors and a resolution of 240×440 pixels.
The smartphone has a proprietary Samsung OS with a unique drag and drop system for menu navigation and media playback.
It supports all the major media formats from MP3 to Real to MPEG4.
The F700 has a brilliant 5 Megapixel camera with autofocus and a secondary VGA cam for video conferencing.
The 3G phone supports EDGE, GPRS, UMTS and HSDPA with lightning download speeds of 7.2 Mbps. Specs include Bluetooth, Micro SD card for memory expansion, USB and HTML browser.
An interesting feature is VibeTonz which enables the handset to produce a huge range of ‘vibro-tactile’ sensations so you can hear the ringtone and hear it as well. It will provide an immersive gaming experience as gamers can experience the recoil of a gunshot or the jolt of a punch.

In an attempt to reduce the number of minors that purchase cigarettes through vending machines that are available unrestricted across Japan, the Japanese tobacco association is going to install dispensers with adult identification function all over Japan.
From March 2008 Japanese will be able to buy cigar from vending machines with a taspo card only. Taspo, the Tobacco Card is a smart card being developed by the Tobacco Institute of Japan (TIOJ), the nationwide association of tobacco retailers and the Japan Vending Machine Manufacturers Association for introduction in 2008. Following its introduction, the card will be necessary in order to purchase cigarettes from vending machines in Japan
